Kursk Root Icon Visit

On Friday, March 17th, the Kursk Root Icon visited Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy. We were grateful for the opportunity to start our school day with a brief church service led by our School Rector, the Very Rev. Fr. Gregory Joyce, as well as the opportunity to venerate the Miracle Working Icon that dates back to the 13th century A.D. and played a role in healing St. Seraphim of Sarov when he was a child. Here is a great article to learn more about the Kursk Root Icon: http://stvladimiraami.org/pamphlets/kurskicon.pdf

And on Sunday, March 19th, we celebrated the Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross at St. Vladimir Orthodox Church in the presence of the Kursk Root Icon. That day, Divine Liturgy was followed by a prayerful procession of the faithful to our unfinished school building, led by the Holy Cross and the Kursk Root Icon, to pray for the Theotokos’s protection.
