TUITION AND FEES

Tuition is $12,000 per student per year, plus additional fees, as outlined in more detail on this page.

As a non-profit organization, we at the Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy (A2OCA) strive for financial transparency in all aspects of our community life. We believe that transparency builds confidence and grows commitment, and thus we will strive, to the greatest extent possible, to share the reality of our financial position at all times.
In order to establish a tuition rate it is important, first of all, to understand the totality of our per student cost. We budget for 75% enrollment, although of course we hope for 100% enrollment. Given a 75% enrollment for the 2021-22 school year, and given the personnel and other expenses associated with the school and instruction, the true cost per student is approximately $15,000 per student per year.

Tuition is set lower than the true cost per student of $12,000 to make an A2OCA education more accessible to more families. There are discounts available for multiple children from the same family. Each family chooses whether to pay tuition in a lump sum or in installments. This will be arranged before the beginning of the school year with each family.

It is understood that $12,000 may be too much for some families to pay, while other families may be able to pay the $15,000 dollars or more with no trouble. We are committed to making it possible for each family that would like to send their child(ren) to our school to be able to do so – no matter their financial reality. Thus, we urge those families that can pay $15,000 to do so, and we equally urge those who are unable to pay $12,000 to apply for tuition assistance. All scholarships are based on financial need, which will be assessed by an independent party.

Each school year it is understood that there will be a deficit between cost per student and tuition payments, so we organize fundraising opportunities in order to break even. Financial discipline is important in our early years, so that we can grow to be financially sustainable. Over time we aim to build up A2OCA’s reserves to allow us more financial flexibility, but in our first few years we will not have the reserves to rely on and thus must break even each year. We hope to make a profit so that we can reinvest it into our school to offer our students the best in facilities and curriculum, develop our faculty, and give more student scholarships.

In addition to tuition, each family (not each student) is asked to invest sweat equity of 20 volunteer hours per trimester at A2OCA. For those who are not able to offer such volunteer work, a donation of $1,000 per trimester can replace this time commitment. A combination of work and volunteer hours is, also, an option. Each volunteer hour is equivalent to$50/hour, so we leave the exact ratio of sweat equity to donation to each family, and we will do our best to assist families to fulfill this requirement by helping to monitor donations and hours. These initiatives are in place not only to financially sustain the operation of the school but to, also, support and foster positive relationships amongst all members of the school community.

For more information on tuition, please view our application here.

Not included in school tuition is the cost of a school uniform and athletic dress for each student (which can be purchased from our supplier; more information to come). Families that require financial assistance to invest in school clothing are asked to contact us as soon as possible to discuss assistance options.

Field trips are incorporated into the life of our school. In some cases there may be a small fee associated with these outings. Information will be shared with families in this regard as early as reasonably possible preceding the field trip.

If you are interested in offering your child(ren) the type of education that is fulfilling, challenging, and Christ-centered, all within the classical education tradition, we welcome you to reach out to us and apply to join us at A2OCA. We are dedicated to doing what we can to help make an A2OCA education financially accessible for you and your family.

We thank you for your interest and pray that God keeps you and your family healthy and safe, always!

TUITION ASSISTANCE

We wish to make an education at Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy financially accessible to all who wish to make the academy a part of their and their children’s lives. To this end, tuition assistance is available for qualifying families.

If you intend to apply for tuition assistance, please indicate this in your application and note that you are required to submit a tax form to verify family income. There may be a fee involved for the processing of your application, which will be communicated to you in advance. After indicating on your application that you intend to apply for tuition assistance, you will be notified when the application becomes available for you to complete.
Please note that the amount that each family qualifies for will be determined by an independent party and based upon the financial situation of the family and the tuition assistance funds that are available during the school year being applied for.

We encourage all families who support the A2OCA mission to apply to join our school family and we look forward to welcoming your child here!
