EDUCATION PROGRAMS

2025-2026

Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy recognizes parents as their children’s first educators and wishes to support their important role to help bring their children to Christ.  One of the best ways to do this is by offering children an intellectually-stimulating, Christ-centered education that provides them the tools that enable them to see God’s handiwork and to better know and glorify Christ.  This is what an education in the classical tradition can offer our children.

As a non-profit Academy, we currently offer four (4) different programs, each of which is designed to support the various needs of parents and help support their efforts as first educators of their children:

* MICROSCHOOLING

* ON-LINE

* BLENDED LEARNING

* FULL-TIME

Here is an overview of our program offerings and tuition for each program for the 2025-2026 school year. Kindly note that while our current program offerings are for Preschool until Third Grade students, we intend to add a grade level each school year thereafter. Fourth Grade will be offered in the 2025-2026 school year if minimum enrollment is met.

The curriculum that we have adopted and adapted for all of our programs is from Memoria Press, which is developed and tested at Highlands Latin School in Kentucky.  To give you a sense of the caliber of the curriculum, students at Highlands Latin School consistently outperform their peers on nationwide standardized tests.  For information on the curriculum and subject-specific learning objectives at each grade level, please refer to the Scope and Sequence document.

To learn more about each program that we offer, see the information provided below. We encourage you to share our program flyer with any other families or communities you think may benefit from our offerings which aim to provide children an exceptional, intellectually-rigorous, developmentally-appropriate, and Christ-centered education in the classical tradition!

MICROSCHOOLING

Grades offered: Preschool, Junior Kindergarten (Pre-K), Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade

Microschooling is a cross between a homeschooling co-op and a private school. Students meet at school two days a week (on Wednesdays and Fridays). Wednesday mornings start with Church service (beginning at 9:00 a.m.), followed by Catechism class at 11:00 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. On Fridays classes are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parent/Guardian support in class is welcomed on Wednesday mornings, although this is not a requirement for enrollment.

Parent/Guardian support in the Preschool and Junior Kindergarten classes is expected on instructions days (Wednesdays and Fridays), so as to facilitate student learning. This program is designed for students with access to approximately 3 to 4 hours of at-home parent/guardian learning support on each of the three days per week that we do not meet (for Kindergarten to 3rd Grade students). Preschool and Junior Kindergarten students can experience enriched learning experiences through extension activities at home and instructors can provide this option for parents who inquire. At home, parents/guardians of Kindergarten to Third Grade students are responsible for covering curricular topics assigned for that day and any other topics not covered in class (according to the Curriculum Manual and as advised by the instructor), as well as marking students' work.

For Kindergarten to Third Grade students, the program offers:

* a low student-instructor ratio (which allows for individualized attention, as needed)

* regular instruction in the subject areas of phonics/reading, grammar, and mathematics, and some instruction in writing and spelling; if time permits,  there is occasional instruction in science and/or history/geography/cultural studies, as well as craft-making

* opportunities for community building and fellowship (among students and parents/guardians) through parents'/guardians' in-class support to facilitate their children’s learning

ON-LINE

Grades offered: Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade

Our On-Line program involves 75 minutes of class time (for Kindergarten students) and 90 minutes of class time (for First Grade and beyond) three days a week (on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays).

During On-Line lessons, the A2OCA On-Line instructor primarily teaches concepts pertaining to mathematics, spelling, and reading (phonics). The A2OCA instructor provides students with the opportunity to enhance their learning and understanding of these concepts through engaging on-line activities.  Our On-Line instructor provides exceptional instruction for students and homeschooling support for parents to help them successfully deliver quality instruction at home that supports their children's learning. Students are expected to have access to 3 to 4 hours per weekday of at-home learning support, so as to assist them to progress towards the pre-specified curricular learning goals.

BLENDED LEARNING

Grades offered: Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade

Our Blended Learning program is a combination of our Microschooling (in-person) and On-Line programs, so that each day of the school week students have the opportunity to engage with their learning with the support of an instructor working alongside them and their parents. As with our Microschooling and On-Line programs, the goal of our Blended Learning program is to support parents to offer their children an exceptional homeschooling education in the classical Christian tradition.  Students are expected to have access to 3 to 4 hours per on-line school day of at-home learning support, so as to assist them to progress towards the pre-specified curricular learning goals.

FULL- TIME

Grades offered: Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade

For our Full-Time program, instruction is offered from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The same quality curriculum (as with our Microschooling, On-Line, and Blended Learning programs) is offered to our full-time students through the guidance and leadership of Orthodox Christian instructors whose patient, dedicated, and engaging instruction supports student learning to meet and exceed their learning goals.
